Check it Out!  I found some more wine glasses while straightening up my storage building last week.  Since it wasn't a complete matching set, I knew I wanted to repurpose them. And since I have some battery powered tea lights I thought why not turn them into mini lamps! Although I realize that what I found are actually martini glasses, I am positive these lamps can be made with all sorts of wine and drink glasses.  It's all about creating the lamp shade that turns the glass itself into a tealight lamp.

Check it Out!  After our house fire in 2012, there were only a few items that we were able to save.  I had a full 8 piece china set that didn't make it, but some of the wine glasses did.  Not a full set, but odd and end pieces. There were some plates and candle stick holders and other pieces as well.

Thrifty Thursday - How to Make a Window Valance from a Bed Skirt

Check it Out!  I am on a very strict budget, so buying curtains is not a top priority for me.  I only have 2 windows in my front room, which we call the living room.  It is a large open room that includes the dining room. I have this AMAZING sky blue color on my walls that I absolutely love.  The valances that I have had on these windows since we moved in 3 years ago actually came from the Dollar Tree.  Yes $1!  About as cheap as you can get for a valance, but I have to admit, they also look cheap.

I was super excited to be able to shop at my local Marshalls for items to spruce up an area of my home.  I knew that if I shopped right, I could get enough items to do more than one area!  And boy was I right! The two scents I received are the Sparkling Rain and the Blue Sky Breeze.  So my colors were blue and green.  I knew immediately that I wanted to use them in my 2 bathrooms.  I wanted to use one in my den as well so I purchased a second Blue Sky Breeze for that room.  

So let's start with the den.  I have a table that is the first thing you see when you walk in the door so I decided that would be one of my projects.  

I found some amazing items for this table including the little bird candle.  I got this little cutie for only $2!  I picked up the lantern for a sweet $5 and the frame was marked down to $3.  I also found this amazing blue glass jar with lid for only $3.39!  I removed the label from my Renuzit Pearl Scents and it blends in so perfectly.  I love how this project turned out and I love the crisp but subtle scent that the Pearl Scents provides.

My next area is my guest bathroom which is also my kids bathroom.  With two boys it is usually one of the smelliest places in the house so I knew immediately it would need a Renuzit Pearl Scents.  Since the color theme in there is already blue, I used the other Blue Sky Breeze scent.  

I found the glass container for a mere $6 and the filler balls were only $5 for the package.  I used the blue glass to hold the kids toothbrushes.  The Renuzit air freshener fits in perfectly and is a great odor neutralizer.  

My last area is my personal bathroom.  My husband painted it his favorite color, green, when we first moved in this house so the Sparkling Rain Renuzit Pearl Scents fits in perfectly.  I think this is my favorite scent so far and I really love how fresh and clean it is.  It has a touch of citrus and floral scent to it and it is lovely.  I have these little products on the counter so I used this great glass tray that I found on my shopping spree to keep them all contained and organized.  It has the green colors that match my walls and my Pearl Scents. 

I also purchased this beautiful piece for my dining room.  I plan to pick up another Renuzit Pearl Scents for this room.  

So there it is!  My shopping trip was so fun!  And sprucing up some ordinary areas in my home was so uplifting and fresh!  I love the assortment of home goods that my local Marshalls has and once again I really love these new Renuzit Pearl Scents!

Product Review: Premium Delicates Laundry Bags, Set of 4 #laundry

Check it Out!  I know some people like to do laundry, but it honestly is not one of my favorite chores.  It might be because I have to lug clothes up and down 2 sets of steps though!  I don't actually mind the sorting and actual loading, it's the folding and lugging that get me.  I have a problem with missing socks though.  They disappear forever or either show up a few loads later separate from their mates.  And I also hate washing my delicates.  You know bras and such.  They tend to get wrapped around the center agitator which can leave them stretched and slightly mangled.   
So I have learned that laundry bags are a necessity.  Finding quality laundry bags can be a challenge though.  Some of the ones I have used in the past were small, which doesn't allow for many items to be put inside.  The zippers would rust and are noisy in the dryer and they just aren't durable. And then there are the bags that just have strings and those are just not reliable at all.  Well I recently received  a set of 4 Luxury Wash Bags via InsideSmarts to try out and I am one happy camper with them!

The first thing that impressed me about these laundry bags is the different sizes. You get 2 medium and 2 large bags that are made of premium grade mesh.  They are solid and strong.  The second thing that impressed me is having a black bag for dark colored items.  Many of our socks and bras are dark so this has really been the most used bag in my laundry routine.

Product Review: Bellemain Heavy-Duty Pastry-Chef Quality Oven Safe #CoolingRack

Check it Out!  Having the proper tools makes things easier.  Whether it's in the garage or in the kitchen, tools can make a job go smoothly.  Cooking is something that you want to have good tools for and thanks to Bellemain I can have chef's quality tools right in my own kitchen.

I recently got the chance to review the Bellemain Heavy Duty Oven Safe Cooling Rack.  This is a quality heavy duty cooling rack that I just love.  The grid pattern on it allows you to use it for so many different foods, without having to worry about the good stuff falling through. I have always had those cheap racks that have lines going just one way and every time I used them for my cookies, I had at least half of them break in half while cooling.  There just isn't enough rack to hold the cookie. 

One of the things that I have learned is that the secret to perfect treats isn't about how your creations "cool" but about how they "set" and most cooling racks are designed to just cool.  The cheaper brands fail to set baked goods correctly which means dry, brittle or soggy results. Check it Out!  After the house burnt we had to replace all of our mattresses.  Have you seen the price of a mattress?  Yeah and I had to buy 4.  Since my kids are teenagers they didn't want twin beds.  So I  needed 3 queens and a king.  One of the queens ended up being harder than the others.  We had to purchase a mattress pad to try and make it softer.  But it's still a little hard.

Check it Out!  We have so many fix-it projects around this old house.  And since winter is right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about weatherizing too.  Having the right tools to do this important.  
Before my husband became disabled, he was a painter.  He sub contracted for residential and some commercial painting work for over 20 years.  Having that experience is awesome and he has saved us a lot of money.   He will tell you that there are a few essential tools that you need to keep around your home and one of them is a caulk gun.

Product Review: iGotTech #MagneticScreenDoor

It's summertime and that means enjoying the outdoors!  I happen to have a lot of doors in my home.  There are 5 doors that lead outside.  Only 2 of those doors have screen doors and here in the south, that can be a problem.  We have a ton of bugs and right now a ton of mosquitoes!  I hate mosquitoes and flies!  Having a screen door is useful for keeping the bugs out and for letting the air in on cooler days.  Problem is those big metal and glass screen doors are pretty expensive.  I don't have the money or the inclination to install one of those complicated doors.
