The Legend of the #EasterRobin Book Review & Giveaway #FlyBy

*I received the product in this post for purposes of review and sharing.  All opinions are my own.

The Legend of the Easter Robin: An Easter Story of Compassion and Faith

About the Book:

In the center of the nest lay one perfect egg, the color of a spring sky. The father robin sat on a branch nearby, guarding his family. Tressa spotted raccoon tracks below and a blue jay eyeing the nest. “Gran, how are we going to keep the egg safe?” “We’ll have to leave that one to the Creator,” Gran said. Robins have built a nest on the window ledge at Grandmother’s house! Tressa is thrilled―and concerned. What will happen to the sky-blue egg laid by the mother robin? As more eggs appear, Tressa witnesses the daily drama of the robins’ nest and learns how God cares for all creatures. Besides watching the birds, there are Easter eggs to color. And there is a very special story to hear―a tale of long ago about one small bird with a very big heart. How did the robin get its red breast? Tressa is about to find out as Gran tells her the story of the Easter robin. Brought to life with colorful, tender illustrations, The Legend of the Easter Robin will captivate and teach your child about compassion and faith.

Quick & Easy to Make Valentine's Day Candy Bouquets

Check it Out!  Valentine's Day is almost upon us.  I am not one for buying those fancy heart boxes of chocolates.  Not only are they expensive, but my kids usually never eat all of it.  They are typically full of strawberry and maple creams and other funky flavors that no one in my house likes.  So I stick to buying candy that I know will get eaten and they really love.

#TBCCrafters Craft Hop - CupCake Liner Valentines Wreath

Check it Out!  I have no Valentine's Day decorations.  I'm not kidding, not one!  So when thinking of what I could craft for this week I decided it was time to make myself something with a Valentine's theme.  I don't have a lot to work with in this area but I found these great cupcake liners marked down to $1.00 and I loved the patterns so I made a wreath using them a few other materials.

My materials for this craft included:

  • 1 pack of cupcake liners
  • 1 styrofoam round wreath
  • 3 heart picks
  • 1 button
  • Lace
  • Ribbon
  • Hot Glue
  • Sequin pins
  • 1 XXL Glue Dot

To create this wreath I folded my liners in half and flattened them. I had 2 patterns of liners so I decided that I would alternate them.
Since I wasn't sure exactly how I was gonna pull the covering of the wreath off, I used sequin pins.  I did this for 2 reasons, so I could move the liners if needed and so the styrofoam wreath didn't become distorted from the heat of hot glue.

I laid the liners across the wreath and then layered them to cover the wreath.  Using the sequin pins to hold the liners on the bottom, one on each corner.

To create the back border I glued the flattened liners along the edge of the wreath.  I again alternated the patterns.  I used my glue gun on low temp and had to add a bead of glue to keep the liners closed.

I spaced the liners so that my pattern looked like a scalloped edge.  It looked really plain so I grabbed some lace that I had lying around to use on the inside.

To add the lace I used the sequins that were already holding my liners in place.  I simply pulled out the pin, added the lace and repinned. I did this all the way around the inside of the wreath.

To create the flower I took one liner, flattened it.  I applied my XXL Glue Dot to the center and added 5 folded liners with the points to the center.  I fluffed it up a bit and added a button to the center.  I also added some ribbon and my heart picks to finish it off.

#OldFactory Candle Gift Set Review & #Giveaway

*I received this product for purposes of review.  All opinions are my own.

Check it Out!  I love candles.  And I love finding candles in scents that I enjoy.  I tend to love natural scents.  When I got the opportunity to review a set of candles from Old Factory, I knew I wanted in!  I was extremely impressed with how many choices of scents they had, and honestly had a hard time choosing just one!  Since it was creeping up on the holidays I knew I wanted a holiday collection.
Old Factory Candles have a few different sets that are perfect for the holiday season like Fall Harvest, that contains Pumpkin Spice, Cranberry, & Autumn Leaves.  Then there is the Winter Wonderland Collection that contains Hot Cocoa, Roasted Chestnut & First Snow.  I chose the Happy Holidays Collection that contains Gingerbread, Candy Cane & Christmas Tree scents.

I love the way these little sets are packaged.  Each gift set contains 3 different scents and each candle burns for 20 hours.  They are made from hand poured natural soy wax with self- trimming wicks and premium fragrance oils.  Old Factory candles are made in the USA.
These candles burn even and clean and they are definitely long lasting.  I burned one for 2 hours straight the other day and it didn't even look like it had been used.  I absolutely love the scents I received and I don't know which I love more the Christmas Tree or the Gingerbread scent!

I like that I can burn a themed set of candles in my home and they meld so well together as you pass from room to room.  I have a fake Christmas tree, but when you visit my home, you would think it is real, cause the room smells just like a real pine tree!  I love it!  Gingerbread is of course the perfect scent for the kitchen, dining room!  I haven't really used the Candy Cane scent yet, but I will be soon!
With the selection that Old Factory Candles have there is sure to be something you love!  Here are just some of the other sets that you can get:

  • Romance: Rose Petals, Champagne, Dark Chocolate
  • Fresh & Clean:  Lemongrass, Olive Blossom, Fresh Linen
  • Spa Day:  Cucumber, Lemongrass, Green Tea
  • Vacation:  Sea Breeze, Hawaiian Lei, Awapuhi
  • Coffee Shop:  Coffee Bean, Hazelnut, Chai Tea
  • Man Cave: Straight Razor, Leather, Mahogany
  • New Born Baby:  Baby Powder, Baby Shampoo, First Blanket

#TBCCrafters Craft Hop - Fall "Give Thanks" Basket

Check it Out!  I am still working on getting my home all festive for the Thanksgiving holiday and I needed a centerpiece for my table. I have quite a stash of fall flowers and leaves in a container and at the bottom I found these cute little pumpkins.  I remembered this beautiful golden basket I had and an idea was born!

For this project my materials included:
  • Basket
  • Assorted flower bunches
  • pine cones
  • pumpkins
  • raffia
  • moss
  • styrofoam
  • Mini Chalkboard on stand
  • Liquid Chalkers

For my Give Thanks sign I used a mini chalk board on a stand.  I removed the stick from the base and using my new Liquid Chalkers I added the words Give Thanks to my chalkboard front.  I also added a little bow to the stick.

Using my craft knife I made a slice in the top of one of my pumpkins and added my sign.

I wanted my pumpkins to sit up higher inside the basket so I added some styrofoam to the inside of the basket to fill it up. Using a hot glue gun I added moss around the outside edges allowing it to hang over my styrofoam edges and then filled in the top to completely hide the styrofoam.
Starting with my tallest flower stems, I added one to each side of the basket tucking the stems under and into the styrofoam.

Using more floral stems I filled in the rest of the basket along the edges and ends.  I stacked up my pumpkins in an arrangement I liked and glued it all in place.  I then filled in any gaps and holes with more flowers and fall leaves. I also added a little raffia.

So what do you think of my dining room so far?  You can check out how I put that Fall Candle Jar Tablescape in the background together HERE.  I have one more craft project next week goes along with those Fall Napkin Rings I made last week and that will finish off the table.  Be sure and check it out!

Check out my #Review of @KirkCameron #Saving Christmas & Enter to win a Movie Gift Pack

*I received information and an advanced screening of this movie for purposes of this review.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Check it Out!  I love Christmas!  It is my favorite holiday.  I love the decorations, the celebrations, the food, all of it! I guess sometimes I worry about the gift part but that is a whole other story! lol
I am ready to bring on all these traditions and I have the perfect movie for kicking off the holiday season to share with you today.  Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas is all about putting Christ back into Christmas.

About the movie:
This Christmas, have your family join with Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.” KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is an engaging story that provides a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season. So take in the splendor; take in the majesty; take in the story. Take it all in… and let’s put Christ back in Christmas! KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is in theaters for a limited engagement beginning November 14 for two weeks only!

"Join me, and my family, and together let’s put Christ back into Christmas. We’ll dive head first into all of the joy, the dancing, the celebration, the feasting, the imagination and traditions that glorify the true reason for the season.” - Kirk Cameron

Opening in select theaters Nov. 14 for 2 weeks only, Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas will help you put all the holiday hoopla into perspective.  It seems that with all the commercialism of the holiday, Jesus is taking a back seat and it's become unclear exactly what Christmas is suppose to be about.  Kirk tells you and shows you how you can get back to what is important and enjoy the season with all of its trimmings.  I really enjoyed this movie.  I got to watch a pre-screening and I watched with my 14 year old daughter.  Although she said it was a little boring, I caught her many times with her full attention on the screen! We learned so much about the facts behind Santa, gifts, and even Christmas trees.  I have heard her twice repeating some of the things she discovered to her brothers so I know she got it too!

You can Check out the Official Website at www.savingchristmas.com and check out the official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SavingChristmasMovie.

I am super excited to be able to give one lucky Check it Out! with Dawn reader a Saving Christmas Movie Gift Pack!  This gift pack includes:

A SIGNED Saving Christmas movie poster (by Kirk Cameron), the soundtrack to the film, and a car air freshener that smells like trees!

#TBCCrafters Craft Hop - Easy DIY Fall Napkin Rings

Check it Out!  I have been trying to concentrate on getting my dining room ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday that is coming up.  With Delmar's health the way it is, I want to make each Holiday he has left amazing!  So I am planning to cook the dinner and invite the family.  I want my house to be festive starting with where I will serve that Thanksgiving dinner.
I have already started by creating my Fall Candle Jar Tablescape on my buffet side table. So now I want to focus on my dining table.  Of course we gotta have some napkin rings so that is what I am gonna share today.  I recycled cardboard tubes into these easy Fall Napkin rings.

My supplies were super simple.
  • Cardboard tubes
  • ribbon (preferably 1" wide)
  • Fall leaves
  • Twine
  • Glue
Since I only have red cloth napkins right now, I chose a ribbon with all the fabulous colors of fall and would look good next to pretty much any color.  Here is how I put them together.

To make this a super easy craft, I used the wide ribbon and cut toilet paper tubes to fit.  Since these are cardboard tubes, they are easy to cut apart and you can get at least 2 rings per toilet paper tube.
I glued the ribbon to the tube ring, ran a piece of twine around the outside and glued it down.  Then I simply added a fall leaf, a flower and a small berry sprig.

Since I used ribbon with so many wonderful colors in it, I was able to use a variety of flower colors so that my napkin rings were all slightly unique.  And colorful!  Love the colors!

Be sure and stay tuned, because I will be showing you how I plan to display these adorable napkin rings on my table in the coming weeks.

#TBCCrafters Craft Hop - Halloween BOO Wreath

Check it Out!  It's almost Halloween!  I don't have a ton of decorations like I did before the fire but I have found that it's okay.  Now that my kids are teens, they really aren't in to all the trick or treating and dressing up, so I don't need to decorate quite like I did in the past.
Last Halloween I got a chance to shop the after Halloween 80% off sale at Target.  I found some really great buys.  One of those purchases was this eyeball wreath.  It was normally $20 so I got it for like $4!

When I pulled the wreath out to decorate this year, I realized it was pretty plain and in fact had a few empty spots where an eyeball or two was missing.  So I decided to gather up some of the other goodies I snagged at the sales and give this wreath a little pizzazz!
My supplies also included:

  • Halloween Letter Sheet (Martha Stewart Crafts)
  • Halloween metallic trims (Martha Stewart Crafts)
  • Wide Mesh Ribbon
  • Trick/Treat Picks (from a pack of cupcake decorations)
  • Glue

Although I bought the basic wreath, it could be easily constructed with a round styrofoam wreath, painted black, black tinsel and an assortment of eyeballs.  Just drape the tinsel all around the wreath gluing it down.  Add the eyeballs all around the wreath.

I wanted to add some dimension to this wreath so I chose to add mesh ribbon gathered and glued to the back of the wreath.  This could be done in many ways but I just gathered it up as I went around the back of the wreath.

After I added the mesh ribbon I prepared my letters.  I cut the letters BOO out and then adhered them to cobweb themed paper and then onto a cardboard tag.  I removed the string from the tags to make a frame for my letters.

I glued my letters to the wreath, added some of those trick and treat picks along with some pieces of the metallic trim.

Product Review: Rtgs 20 Micro LEDs String Lights #rtgsproducts

*I received this product for free.  All opinions expressed are my own.

Check it Out!  I love crafting and I love adding new elements to my crafting.  Elements like sounds and light. Discovering new ways to incorporate them is a challenge that I enjoy.  I recently got a really interesting product via Tomoson that is really brightening up my projects!
I received some Rtgs Micro LED Battery Operated String Lights.  And these are unlike any string lights you have seen before!  Gone are the big bulky bulbs that are frustrating and not very attractive.  These lights are very thin but intensely bright.  The 20 very small LED bulbs are about the size of a grain of rice and they have a steady 360 degree viewing angle that illuminates in every direction. This strand is made from wire so it is bendable!
What I love is that they are battery powered.  This allows me to use these lights in a multitude of ways that you just can't with ordinary strand lights.  The small battery pack that powers the Rtgs Micro LED bulbs is easily hidden making it easy to outline picture frames and even put under a cabinet to create a back light.
I experimented with my light strand to see how many different ways I could use them.  After realizing there are so many ways I now know I need more!

One of my first ideas was to add them to the inside of this really beautiful potpourri dish that I have.  This dish sits on my buffet table in the dining room and other than being beautiful it is a little boring.

I simply placed the battery pack in the center of the bowl, added some glass stones to cover it and arranged the strand to fill the inside of the bowl.

I absolutely love the blue color that these lights emit. When used with new batteries they will last for over 48 hours and that makes them perfect for night lights!  Night lights of all shapes and sizes!

I also created this fun and functional Flashlight Night Light using my Rtgs Micro LED String Lights and a Pringles can.  You can check it out and see how I made it at  http://thebrandconnection.com/create-a-night-light/.  This craft is featured on The Brand Connection website this week!
You can get more information on these and all the fantastic products that Rtgs Products sell on their website at  http://www.rtgsproducts.com.  I can't wait to try these lights in some more projects!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
