Check it Out! I have neglected decorating my laundry room.
Although Delmar painted it the color I wanted when we moved into this house I haven't hung a thing on the walls. I have had so many problems in that room that decorating just hasn't been a priority. From plumbing to floor issues to having to replace appliances, it's been a real headache! But it's also a real downer. I mean I do spend time almost every day in this room because I do a lot of laundry. I would so love for it to be more inviting and homey. So I got to thinking about what I could make.
Of course I want to create things that are not only cute but functional. And of course I am all about recycling something that isn't being used into something that is.
I have had this Christmas sign hanging in the closet for quite some time. I never put it out at the holidays so I decided to turn it into a cute change catcher for my laundry room.
For this project my supplies included:
- Wood for the base (this is where that sign comes in)
- Paper mache bucket
- Cup hook
- Paint
- Mod Podge
- Scrapbook paper
- Cricut
- Scissors
- Sandpaper
The first thing I had to do was take that sign apart. I removed the santa figure from the top piece and sanded it down.
The next step was to paint my base and my bucket. My laundry room in a warm sunny yellow so I decided to go with black. And I chose an off white color for my letters and for the color of my bucket.
I free handed the check mark and used my Cricut to make the letters. Then I ran them through my mini Xyron sticker maker so adhering them to the base would be super simple.
I positioned my letters and added the cup hook to hang the bucket on.
And then to finish the whole thing off I added a coat of mod podge to seal the letters and so I can wipe it off when needed.
This looks really good on my yellow walls. I used a bucket and cup hook so that I can remove the bucket to empty it.
cute Dawn! I like it.
