#TBCCrafters Craft Hop - Paper Flowers

Check it Out!  If you are a crafter like me than you have paper scraps.  A great way to use up some of those scraps is by making paper flowers. One of the best things about this project is that there is no right or wrong. It's all about what you like, what you have and putting it all together.

The first step is to gather up different punches, templates and I also used my circle scissor. I also used some glue dots, ink pads, buttons and brads.  I use my scrap paper as well as book pages from books that are no longer being used or missing pages.

I set about making my flower pieces by punching and cutting out various size flower and circle shapes.  Small, medium, large, extra large, whatever shapes and sizes appeal to you.  I punch and cut a ton of shapes in various sizes and throw them all in a container until I have a pile full.
I love the vintage look on my flowers so I crinkled the shapes up and straighten them back out and then inked up the edges to give them an aged look.

Then you just start layering up.  Totally up to you whether you use 2, 3 or even 4 layers.  You can glue them together and add buttons or gems or you can just punch a hole into the center of them all and attach a brad.

To make the multi- dimensional flowers, I started with one flat shape.

Then take 6-8 of the same shapes and fold them in half and then in half again.  And then just lay them beside each other and then stack to create the fluffy shape.

So what do you do with all the paper flowers?  Well...
*Stick a pin back on the back and you have a lapel pin
*Use them for scrapbooking layouts
*Decorate with them...
I have these old stackable containers that I use for some of my crafting supplies and they are like I said old, so they aren't really pretty.

But with some more paper scraps cut to fit the fronts and my paper flowers, I now have a decorative element in the middle of my craft area!  And functional, add some decorative tags with the contents labeled and I have functional decoration!

If you know me then you know that I love things that are multi-purpose and with multi possibilities.  These are really endless in the possibility of ways you can design them and use them.
Curl up the edges creating an even more dimensional flower, add glitter to the edges or center for a beautiful finish.  Spray them with a spray sealer and they become stronger and can be used outdoors in wreaths and such.  Make jewelry with them, a little hot glue and some findings and you have a pendant and earrings or a headband!  Make them using mini-punches and you can create a garden!  I'm telling you, endless possibilities!  My kinda craft!!
