#TBCCrafters Craft Hop - Create extra storage with Medicine Bottles

Check it Out!  We have a ton of medicine bottles laying around, I just can't seem to make myself throw them away!  I use them to store all kinds of stuff in, you know those little odds and ends that don't take up a whole jar or container, like safety pins, toothpicks, brads and beads.  Having all these little bottles around is functional but I have to admit, not very pretty.  So I decided to dress them up and organize them, but first I decided that I needed to make some of them non-childproof!  

Having to press that little tab on the bottles every time is irritating so using wire cutters I cut each side of the tab off and then decorated them with a variety of materials.  I also stacked a few to make some storage towers.  

I decorated the ones above with lace, some sticker trim and ribbon.  I also decorated some with Washi Tape and even string.  To make the tower, I simple hot glued the tops of two lids to the bottoms of the bottles.  I found that 3 tall is about a good height so the tower doesn't topple easily.  I added ribbon and lace to cover the connection and glued on a drawer pull at the top.  You could add tags or labels to each one for easy identification of what's inside too.  

I also attached some of my medicine bottles to the bottom of a wooden shelf by measuring out even spaces and then screwing the lids to the shelf, from the inside out.  I drilled the screw into the lid from the top to get my hole and then flipped it over and drilled it to the shelf.  I may add some ribbon and labels to the bottles later, but I am pretty happy with how it looks!  Lucky for me my wall color matches them well!
