Four Cups: God's Timeless Promises for a Life of Fulfillment
by: Chris Hodges
About the Book:
"What if God has had a plan for your life since the very beginning? Not just the beginning of your life, but from the foundations of faith itself? In Four Cups, pastor and New York Times best-selling author Chris Hodges shares an astonishing truth: The key to your spiritual fulfillment is found in four promises that God first spoke to His people in the Old Testament, and that are still at the core of his heart and his plans for you today. God wants to rescue you; to deliver you from whatever holds you back; for you to live out His plan for your life; and for you to be part of a family that is making a difference. Steeped in Jewish history and tradition, yet breathing the transforming hope of Christ on every page, Four Cups will help you move forward on your spiritual journey. You’ll understand the four stages of faith, believe the promises of God for your life . . . and discover what it means to be truly fulfilled."
My Review:
Believing that God does have a plan for me is one of the main ways that I stay positive in life. He has a reason for all the good and bad that happens in our life. In this book I learned that the "cup of the Lord" is actually four cups, the cup of Sanctification, the cup of Deliverance, the cup of Redemption and the cup of Praise. These four cups reveal God's presence and promises and the author delves into the history and biblical significance of each of these promises. This is a quick read that left me uplifted and encouraged to follow my dreams and to focus on these promises that God has for all of us.
"As we recognize our weaknesses, our sinful mistakes, and our need for forgiveness, our Savior offers us a new way of living that can free us from enslavement of sin."
The author offers prayers and there is a model for church leaders included as well. This would make a great group discussion book.
