My Review:
This September will be 25 years that I have been married and I will admit that we have had our ups and downs. Sometimes it seems like more downs than ups, but I and my husband are not the types to give up. We made a commitment to each other and to God and we take that very seriously so giving up when things get a little tough, is just not an option. Finding ways to get through those downs is how we get stay together but I can always use some advice!
The Marriage You've Always Wanted by Gary Chapman is 144 pages of well thought out advice that touches on everything from why we get married to the issue of sexual relations and love and money.
I have never read any of the any other books by this author but after reading this one I will be seeking out The 5 Love Languages and I will be sharing it with the hubby too!
In this book the author uses stories from his years of counseling as well as his personal experiences to show couples how to first look into yourself and find your issues and problems before you judge and expect your mate to fix theirs. Self examination can bring on some very important realizations. There are many questions that any wife or husband will be able to relate to and it is not a long and drawn out book making it easier for those who don't like to read. There are discussion questions after each chapter and a wealth of resources are included to help couples improve and move toward better communication.
This is an excellent book for any couple that is looking to reconnect with each other and with God to ge tthe best marriage ever!
