Check it Out! I have been wanting to create a Thankful board ever since the fire and with our first Thanksgiving in our new home, I really wanted to have one on the wall for the holiday. Chalkboards are not cheap, but chalkboard paint is, so I looked around to see what I could turn into a chalkboard with my paint. I don't have much to work with as far as wood goes, but I have a ton of cardboard! I have cardboard in all different sizes, so I found a piece that fit this wooden die cut frame that I have had. I got it on clearance at Jo-Ann's a few weeks back and just wasn't quite sure what I was gonna do with it!
Well using that frame, the chalkboard paint, a white paint pen and a fall flower I made a very cute and functional Give Thanks Framed Board!
I simply cut my cardboard to fit, painted it with the chalkboard paint and then glued it to my frame.
I wrote out my words Thankful For with chalk first so that if I made a mistake I could erase it and then when I was happy with it, I went over it with a white paint pen to make it permanent.
I then hot glued on a fall flower and a few little embellishments to finish it off.
It turned out pretty cute and I can't wait to see what my kids write on it. We sure have a lot to be thankful for this year!
That's adorable! What a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen!
DeleteLove this idea! I love how you repurposed the cardboard to make it too!!! Great use of those frames too. I now wish I had bought more than one ;)
ReplyDeleteI bought three when they were marked down! This was the big one. Cardboard is a lot stronger than some think! Thanks Rose!
DeleteLove this!! Then other times of the year, it would be my grocery list!! Pinned & Tweeted!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Jamie!! Thanks!
DeleteThis is good for kids to sit down and think of what they are thankful for... These days, kids just receive some much that they think mandatory...
