AquaEars For Children Review & Giveaway

*I received the products in this post compliments of Robin Leedy and Assoc. for purposes of this review, however all opinions are my own.

Check it Out!  Summer is here and this is one lady who couldn't be happier!  I love summer and I love living in Georgia where is gets warm and sunny!  It does get pretty humid here though, which makes some hot days feel even hotter and swimming is a great way to combat that sticky feeling you get when outside on those really humid days.  The only bad thing about swimming alot in the summer is the risk of that dreaded swimmers ear that can come from germs in the water.
According to the CDC, one of the most common causes of swimmers ear, also known as otitis externa, are the germs and water loving bacteria such as Pseudomonas that can be found in pools and recreational venues.  When water stays in the ear canal for long periods of time, it provides the perfect environment for germs and infections to grow.  That's why it is important to have earplugs!
AquaEars for Children are soft silicone earplugs that not only seal the water out, but also reduce ear discomfort due to water pressure.  What is super cool about AquaEars for Children is they come in fun and colorful licensed characters on them, like Finding Nemo, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora!  If your kids don't like to wear earplugs, this can be a great selling point...Dora would want you to protect your ears!  lol

These are super soft earplugs that are easy to use and are very effective.  They are easy for the kids to use themselves, which is a time saver for me and so far no complaining!  Just look at how cute Dora is in Tori's ear!  Now these are reusable, but the images will probably be destroyed after the first or second use, but they still work great.
My kids just love laying off the edge of the pool with their backs floating, which puts their ears right under the water, and wearing ear plugs helps keep that water out, so they can have fun longer!

My daughter Tori gets swimmers ear at least twice a season so these earplugs are gonna come in super handy and as we prepare to go on vacation at the end of the summer, I already have some AquaEars packed and ready to go!

AquaEars for Children come in a great little container that allows you to store them securely and carry them easily. They retail for around $4.00 for a set of 3 pairs and can be found at many local retailers.  You can get more information at http://www.cirrushealthcare.com/AquaEars-C6.aspx and you can check them out on Facebook as well.

To help keep you and the kiddos safe this summer, AquaEars has compiled four water safety tips that you can follow to ensure a safe and fun time:

·         Be an Explorer: Always take the time to explore around the swimming area to help your child identify the location of lifeguards, water preservers, bathrooms facilities, depth markers with shallow and deeps ends, sitting areas, and even other swimmer’s behavior in the area.
·         Pump your Brakes:  Never allow children to run or even walk fast around or in a swimming area.  The spillover and foot traffic from the water makes surfaces wet and slippery and children can easily injure themselves or others by falling on the hard surface or even in a body of water. Using the © Disney/Pixar Cars AquaEars ear plugs are a great way to remind them to “pump their brakes” and walk while enjoying water activities.
·         Find Some Water Buddies: Even if a lifeguard is on duty, a child should never swim alone and should always have an adult supervising by land and preferably by sea.  Never leave any child unsupervised by or in the pool or other body of water.
·         The Fish Test: Your child may be more confident about their swimming abilities than you are so before they start to swim ask them to pass the ‘fish test’ by showing you some basic swimming techniques such as holding their breath, treading water and swimming underwater.  Be honest about their ‘fish test’ results by telling them where they are able or unable to venture based on your observations.  Make sure the lifeguard supports your ‘fish test’ findings.

I am excited to be able to give 1 lucky Check it Out! with Dawn reader a set of AquaEars for Children and they get to pick their own character!

  1. I've had swimmers ear repeatedly growing up. I use earplugs with my kids so they never have. I would love to try these out. Especially for my middle son who is autistic and noise sensitive. It would be nice to have portable earplugs for him in my purse.

  2. I have experienced it a lot. I actually have am hearing impaired so I had custom made earplugs for swimming when I was growing up. Although my hearing problems are not genetic, I don't want to risk my daughter having an water/ear problems that I had!
