Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny
Platform: Playstation 3/Nintendo Wii
Type: RPG
ESRB Rating: Everyone 10+
Story: Two lifelong friends were living a tranquil life on Fenith Island
when a strange disaster trapped both of their souls in the same body. On top of
that, the Island they knew is now gone, replaced by an island with many new
places, people, and a giant golem! Start a farm, fish, craft items, cook,
compete in festivals, and wade through the ocean atop your golem to find new
and mysterious islands, and uncover the mysterious of this new world.
Graphics: Both versions of the game have pretty good graphics, but the
Playstation 3 version supports sharper and more realistic visuals, even though
the game keeps a somewhat cartoon-like feel.
Sound: Whether your fighting monsters in an ancient temple, or tending to
your crops, the music matches your surroundings. For temples, its dark and
mysterious. For your farm, bright and cheery. And for your house, warm and
inviting.
Controls: The controls are a bit confusing, and can be hard to learn on the
Playstation version, whereas the Wii's controls are perfectly mapped out to use
the Wiimote and the nunchuck. However, the playstation version also supports
the use of the PS3 Motion Controller if you prefer a more active gameplay.
Extras: There aren't really any extras in this game, besides an area located
on the main menu where you can review cut scenes you've already unlocked. This
is likely because the game packs so much into the storyline.
Overall Rating: 8 out of 10
