Food Triggers
by Rhona Epstein

Check it Out!  There are a ton of diet books on the market and another ton of diet routines and gimmicks that are available in this day and age, and for someone with a problem with food, it can be truly hard to find that one thing that works for you.  We all have known someone (or are that someone) who has a food problem.  Overeating, poor body image and lack of self control are all part of a food addiction and food addictions are as real as drug and alcohol addictions.
I recently got the opportunity to check out a new book that is designed to help end those cravings and get control of the triggers that make us overeat and overindulge.  In Rhona Epstein's Food Triggers, you can discover that there is a chemical explanation for why, how and when we eat and learn how you can stop obsessing about what you will eat.  Even if your not the one with the problem, this book will help you learn how you can help those in your life that do have a problem.  You may also be surprised at what you learn about food and sugar.

"Sugar and fat can actually desensitize the reward pathway in our brains so we need more and more in order to experience the same happy feeling as before."

This is a well researched look at how body chemistry plays a part in food addictions.  The author address the issue on three levels, physically, emotionally and spiritually and lets you in on her story.  She has been there and she shows that you're not alone.   She shows you how to love yourself and your body again and how to find your triggers and more importantly how to, with God's help find freedom from the roller coaster.
There is a group discussion guide as well as a Triggers List that will be your quick guide to fast help.

  2. I would love to read...but right now, a friend is struggling hard with this very issue. I would give to her and ask to borrow it later so I could read...but it would be my gift to her. She's more important to me than keeping a prize I won.
