The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep by Harvey Karp M.D. Book Review & Giveaway

Check it Out!  I don't have any babies now as my kids are all teens, but sleep was one of the most important things I focused on when my kids were babies.  The day I found out I was pregnant with my last child and realized I would have a newborn as well as a 11mo old and 2 year old, I knew I had to be in control of bedtime.  I have had so many friends that had so many issues with bedtime and nap times that it was super important to me that I start at a young age.  I used my own methods and was pretty successful in not only getting them to sleep but keeping them there.  As they grew older they developed their own sleep habits but that's another whole story!
I know there are alot of parents who haven't found that method that works for them yet so I was excited to be able to review and share with you all Dr. Harvey Karp's book "The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep" via One2One Network.
When my babies were little I read a lot of books about sleep and babies and what I think is different about Dr. Karp's book is that he focuses on the number one problem that plagues parents: exhaustion!  It's that time when you feel overwhelmed, defeated even angry.  Some even feel like they are at their breaking point which can translate into health problems.
With The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep, you have a tool at your fingertips to learn invaluable tips on how to help your newborn, infant or toddler to get the sleep they need so you can get the rest you need.  This guide will also help sort out some of those widely shared myths about babies and sleep and provide some amazing insights, like:

  • What is the best white noise and what noises worsen sleep
  • The importance of powering down and turning off those electronics
  • How to train newborns to sleep better
  • Why parents should always wake a sleeping baby before putting them into bed
  • How to swaddle babies the right way
I really wish this book was around 10 years ago and I highly recommend it for any parent of kids from birth to 5 years.  This book would make an awesome Baby Shower gift!  But it's not just for new parents, and in fact, Dr. Karp has designed this book so that after you read the first chapter on the basics of sleep, you can just skip on ahead to the section that fits your child's age. He even has a wake/sleep diary and sample sleep schedules that parents can use as well as a chapter on red alerts and special situations which many will find extremely helpful.
