My Thrifty Walgreens Trip - 7/31

Check it Out!  When I got my paper this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find not 3 but 4 coupon inserts!  I received 2 Redplum inserts this week!yay!  Since it's a great week for multiple papers, I headed on out to Walgreens early this morning! 

Here are the few deals I got:

1st Transaction:

*Nivea Body Wash - $5.99 - used $2 off coupon - got back $2 RR

*Crest ProHealth Mouth Wash - $3.99 - used $2 off coupon - got back $1 RR

*Sunday Paper 2 pack - $3.00

Total Paid:  $5.98 - used a $3 RR left over from last week - got back $3 in RR's

2nd Transaction:

*Cottonelle 12 roll pack - $5 - used $1 store coupon

*Cottonelle 12 roll pack - $5 - used $1 store coupon - got back $3.50 RR

Total Paid:  $5.00 - used $3 RR's from 1st transaction - got back $3.50 RR

Final Total Paid for all 6 items that would have cost $22.98  was $10.98 and I have $3.50 in RR's left over. Oh and $640 in coupon savings from all those inserts!

When the first plane struck Tower One, an enormous boom, frightening sounds, and muffled voices swept through Michael’s office while shards of glass and burning scraps of paper fell outside the windows.  But in this harrowing story of trust and courage, discover how blindness and a bond between dog and man saved lives and brought hope during one of America’s darkest days."

My Review:

Can you imagine being blind and being 78 floors up in the World Trade Center when an unbelievable horror causes you to flee for your life?  This is Michael Hingson's story of survival and trust with his guide dog Roselle.  I loved this book and finished it in a day!  Travel down those 78 floors with Michael and Roselle as they make their way through the smoke filled stairwells.  The bond that they have helped Michael to trust Roselle's judgement and kept them both calm and got them through the 9/11 nightmare.  In reading about the event that changed both of their lives forever you also learn a great deal about blindness and how far technology has come in making life easier and enjoyable for the blind. I am amazed and thrilled to see how independent a blind person can be.  

Michael has also included resources for the blind as well as "The Courtesy Rules for Blindness" that every sighted person should read.  I highly recommend this book, it is wonderfully enlightening and inspiring.  I having all my kids read it!

My Thrifty Walgreens Trip - 7/24

Check it Out!  I had some Register Rewards left from last week so I headed to Walgreens this morning for some deals.  Here is what I got:

1st Transaction:

*2 - Scunci Hair Bands 18 ct. - 2/$3 sale - got back a $3 RR

*Irish Spring Deodorant - 2/$6 sale - used a $1.00 off coupon

*Irish Spring Body Wash - 2/$6 sale - used a $0.50 off coupon - got back a $4 RR

Total Paid:  $5.50 - used $2 RR from last week and got back $7 in RR

2nd Transaction:

*Pure Silk shave cream - $0.99 with store coupon

*Cortaid Cream - $5.99 - used $2 store coupon + $3 off coupon

*Wexford Pencils 10ct. - $0.19

Total Paid:  $2.17

3rd Transaction:

*2 - Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil - $0.89 ea. with store coupon - used $1.50 off 2 coupon

*2 - Wexford Pencils - $0.19 ea.

Total Paid:  $0.66

Final Total paid for all 11 items that would have cost $21.43 was $8.33 and I have $7 in RR left over!!  That was definitely worth the trip!
