Album Review - Mat Kearney's "Young Love"

Check it Out!  You may not recognize his name but I bet you've probably heard some of Mat Kearney's hits on some very popular TV shows.  His songs have appeared on 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, The Hills, Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, NCIS, and numerous other television shows. He's been on tours with everyone from John Mayer and Sheryl Crow to Keane and The Fray!
Well, Mat's third album, Young Love, just hit stores last week and debuted in the #1 spot on iTunes Album and Rock charts and is currently sitting at #5!
I recently got the opportunity to review Mat's new album via One2One.  I had never heard of Mat before, but the handclap rhythm of the hit single "Hey Mama" is so upbeat and made me want to hear more of his stuff.  Here is the tracklisting for "Young Love":
1 Hey Mama
2 Ships In The Night
3 Count On Me
4 Sooner Or Later
5 Chasing The Light
6 Learning To Love Again
7 Down
8 She Got The Honey
9 Young Dumb And In Love
10 Rochester
11 Seventeen
After listening to the whole album, if I had to pick a favorite it would be Hey Mama, that beat, the choruses, so catchy and fun, I just love it!  All the songs on this album though are goodies.  They are so different and I think this is a great CD for the whole family, although when Victoria heard it, she said it was cool but clearly "adult music".   The way that Mat writes his songs is so relateable.  I wasn't too sure about the "rap" that he breaks into but its more sing songy the more you listen to it.  I am not a huge fan of rap, but this is different.  It is definitely something you need to give a try if you have never heard Mat's music before.  You can check out the video for "Hey Mama" when you GO HERE and see what I mean.  You can also check out Mat's Facebook page  and Mat's iTunes page and Mat's Website.  You can get a cool Widget too, when you GO HERE.  You will definitely remember his name after you hear his work!

*I received a complimentary copy of Mat's CD "Young Love" via One2One Network for purposes of this review, however all opinions are my own.
