Book Review: "Daddy Dates" by Greg Wright

"Daddy Dates"
by:  Greg Wright

About the Book:
"Daddy Dates gives the average Joe easy steps to actively and successfully engage with his daughter and raise a confident woman-to-be.
When faced with the reality of raising four (4!) teen daughters, Greg Wright went on a soul quest.
He came back with a mission: Don’t Screw Up.
This funny, insightful, and relatable book poses the wildly original concept that should be a “duh” for most dads—but isn’t: In order to raise a confident woman-to-be, show your daughter what it feels like to be treated with love, respect, and true interest by a man who loves her.
Daddy Dates shows the average father how to actually do that. It is written in an original voice and will appeal to both men and women. It is the kind of action-oriented “how to” material that guys enjoy, and so many others will recommend to other dads."

My Review:
Although I have more boys than girls over here, the 1 girl I have is a continual changing mystery to me and my husband and as she gets older we have begun to realize that we don't know everything about her.  I mean we know the basics and the beginnings of her thoughts but really knowing her desires, her views and her insights is something that I think we will always strive for.  This is one of the reasons I was excited to get to review Daddy Dates.  Yeah I know I am the mom, but dad isn't much of a novel reader, more of a cliff notes kinda guy.  And this is a book geared for the guys, with the manly lingo and some references that as a woman left me scratching my head, but  I found so many tips that I as a mom can use to connect with my daughter that it made the read worth it.  I really loved the idea that by building that trust with your daughter and learning about her on her terms, you can earn her heart and teach her what she should expect from life and boys.  You have to win your child's heart and what a better way for a Dad to do that than with a Daddy Date.  Your daughter can learn first hand what its like when a guy is interested in her and cares about her genuinely.  There is a great little quiz at the back to help with the whole process.  I enjoyed this book and it has definitely helped me as a mom to find new ways to bond my daughter and better get an understanding of her personality.  Daddy Dates is published by Thomas Nelson and available at Amazon.com.

*I received a Free copy of Daddy Dates courtesy of Booksneeze for purposes of this review, however all opinions are my own.
